FAS UGM And Goat Breeder Develop Research on Napier Grass

To answer the needs of quality grass for farmers, the Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM and Perserikatan Peternak Kambing dan Domba Yogyakarta (Yogyakarta Goat and Sheep Breeder Association) developed research on Napier Grass (Pennisetum Purpureum) in several locations in Yogyakarta and Central Java.

“This research is very important to do because farmers need grass that has the ability to grow faster, contain more biomass and adequate nutrition. This research was conducted to determine the adaptability of Napier Grass planted in several regions,” said Dean of FAS UGM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ali Agus, DAA., DEA., IPU after the Research Results Dissemination and Launching of Livestock Forage Seeds, Sunday (6/1) at the FAS UGM campus. read more

FAS UGM Students Presented Entrepreneurship Paper in Vietnam

Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM student, Muhammad Khoerul Fadhli (student batch 2015) and Annisa Erlina Yuliani (student batch 2016), presented a paper entitled “Industry 4.0: Be a Good Entrepreneur with the Best Skills” in The International Student Science Forum 2018, in Ho City Chi Minh, Vietnam, on December 5, 2018.

“After going through the selection process, our paper was chosen to be presented at the forum. Our paper discusses entrepreneurs as the most important subject in developing a nation. Indonesia’s young generation is 24.5% of the total population of 252 million. This is an opportunity to empower the younger generation as entrepreneurs,” said Muhammad Khoerul Fadhli, who was contacted at FAS UGM campus on Tuesday (18/12). read more

Ornamental Chicken Business of FAS UGM Students Won The 1st Place As The Most Innovative Products In The UGM Character Festival

The ornamental chicken business of student of Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM, Mino Farm, won 1st place in the innovative product category at the UGM Character Festival 2018 on November 24, 2018. The three students run the business were Akhmad Arif Sulthoni (student batch 2017), Muhammad Hafidzuddin Tsabit (student batch 2015), and Hutomo Abdurrohman (class of 2015). All three are part of the UGM Entrepreneurial Student Program.

“We chose this ornamental chicken business because of the increasing market needs. Beautiful color patterns make ornamental chickens getting more popular with ornamental chicken lovers. In addition, the knowledge of imported ornamental chickens is not yet known by the public,” said Akhmad Arif Sulthoni or familiarly called Arif, when contacted on Friday (14/12) at the FAS Campus. read more

Innovation and Collaboration, Important Points for Entrepreneurs

Innovation and collaboration are two important things in entrepreneurship. The innovation that is needed is one that is able to answer the problems of the community and not necessarily something sophisticated.

“The key is to create products that are relevant and customer-driven. Tongsis, for example, is a simple tool but is successful in the market because it can meet people’s needs for selfie,” said a young lecturer at the Faculty of Animal Science UGM, Satyaguna Rakhmatulloh, S.Pt., M.Sc. FAS UGM To Open Pre-International Class On Even Semester 2018/2019

Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM will open pre-international classes for students start from the 2018 student batch in the even semester of the 2018/2019 academic year. This is in line with Fapet UGM’s vision to be one of the best 10 faculties in tropical countries in the field of animal science in the next 5 years.

“With the opening of pre-international classes, it is expected that it will further strengthen itself as one of the centers of excellence in the field of tropical animal science and technology development that should be disseminated to the international community through world-class science education and livestock industry (world-class faculty of animal science),” said the Dean of FAS UGM, Prof. Dr. Ir.
