Weeds in pastures have long been considered detrimental to livestock productivity, whether directly or indirectly. Typically, pasture weeds are unpalatable, woody, and/or toxic plants. Legetan is one such example. Known scientifically as Synedrella nodiflora, it goes by various local names, including Babadotan Lalaki, jukut berak kambing, jukut gendreng, bruwan, gletang warak, krasuk, serunen, and gofumakeang.

137 Students from SMAN 10 Bogor Visit the UGM Faculty of Animal Science

A total of 137 students from SMAN 10 Bogor visited the Faculty of Animal Science on Tuesday (14/5). They were welcomed at the drh. R. Soepardjo Auditorium. Accompanied by six teachers, the students enthusiastically participated in the event, asking questions about admission procedures and tips for getting accepted into UGM.

Yusni Eka Meilani, one of the accompanying teachers, stated that the visit to the UGM Faculty of Animal Science was part of a campus orientation program designed to broaden the students’ horizons and knowledge regarding higher education, specifically at UGM. Three students from the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) in Animal Science and Industry at the UGM Faculty of Animal Science, specifically from the Class of 2021, participated in an MBKM internship program at the Sumiyoshi Livestock Station, Miyazaki University, Japan, from mid-May to mid-August 2024. The students are Alma Zhahira Elvaretta Wibawa, Radedya Wardhana Putra, and Muhammad Yazida Rizky.

Standardizing slaughterers remains an ongoing challenge, including for those who slaughter sacrificial animals. Instances of slaughter, whether at mosques or other locations, that fail to meet established requirements regarding syaria guidelines, hygiene and sanitation, and animal welfare are still frequently encountered.

In response to this situation, JULEHA Yogyakarta, in collaboration with the Faculty of Animal Science at UGM, organized a Halal Slaughterer (JULEHA) training program.

Ir. Cuk Tri Noviandi, S.Pt., M.Anim.St., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN.Eng., the head of the JULEHA training program at the Faculty, stated that the training aims to prepare halal slaughterers in accordance with the 10 competencies established by the government under SKKNI (Indonesian National Work Competency Standards) No. 147 of 2022. read more
