The Faculty of Animal Science at UGM hosted a book review session for Powered by Happy: How to Get and Stay Happy at Work by Beth Thomas on Friday (25/7). Notably, the session featured four speakers, all administrative staff members of the faculty: Rima Amalia (International Cooperation Services), Prisilia Putri Susilowatie (Protocol), Fitri Febriyanto (Executive Secretary), and Agustin Pratiwi (Postgraduate Academic Services Coordinator).

“This is a breakthrough for the Faculty: a constructive book review that fosters a positive work spirit. We plan to hold similar sessions monthly, covering engaging topics,” said Nurma Diani Sekarsih, S.Pd., MBA, Head of the Faculty’s Administrative Office. read more

The Physical Activity Working Group of the Health Promoting University (HPU) initiative at the UGM Faculty of Animal Science organized the Fapet Run and a friendly volleyball match on Friday (/725). These concurrent events represent one of the targets set by the Faculty’s HPU program.

“The Faculty prioritizes the well-being of its academic community, focusing on both mental and physical health,” stated Nurma Diani Sekarsih, S.Pd., MBA, the Faculty’s HPU Coordinator.

According to her, the Fapet Run is a monthly running event. Running benefits not only physical health but also mental well-being, as it serves as a form of movement meditation that triggers the release of endorphins during active physical exertion. read more

The Faculty of Animal Science at UGM has entered into a partnership with LPER (Institute for People’s Economic Empowerment) Teluria regarding small-scale livestock farming, established on Thursday (24/7). The agreement was signed by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., and the Chairman of the LPER Cooperative, H. Mulyadi Atma.

Budi Guntoro welcomed the partnership. The collaboration will be further developed and followed up with additional activities, such as in-depth discussions on community development through laying-hen farming. read more

The Faculty of Animal Science at UGM sent a young faculty member, Ir. Annisa’ Qurrotun A’yun, S.Pt., M.Sc., IPP., to represent UGM at the RI-SING Faculty Immersion Program, held from July 14-16, 2025, at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Wanda Preiser, Head of NTU’s International Cooperation Office, stated that the RI-SING Faculty Immersion Program aims to strengthen interdisciplinary research collaboration with leading universities in Indonesia.

Furthermore, this program is part of INSPIRASI (Indonesia-NTU Singapore Institute of Research for Sustainability and Innovation), a sustainability-focused research and education collaboration between NTU and prominent Indonesian universities, such as UGM, ITB, ITS, and UI, supported by the LPDP and the Indonesian Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. read more

Waste management and usage is a responsibility of the livestock farming industry to conduct a business establishment that is not only profit-oriented, but also sided with the community and environment. Coming from that, a number of UGM researchers conducted research showing that bio-slurry as the liquid waste from biogas production could be used optimally as a medium for Euglena sp. IDN 22 microalgae that has a potential to be raw material for various industries.

The team that was led by a professor at the Faculty of Animal Science of UGM (Fapet UGM), Prof. Ir. Ambar Pertiwiningrum, M.Si., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN Eng., and is consisted of Prof. Ir. Nanung Agus Fitriyanto, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPM., Dhomas Indiwara Prana Jhouhanggir (doctoral student at Fapet UGM), and Dr. Eko Agus Suyono, S.Si., M.App.Sc. (lecturer and researcher, Faculty of Biology UGM).
