Graduates of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) are expected to become thought leaders while upholding the values of public service, integrity, academic ethics, and dedication to society. This message was delivered by the Dean of Fapet UGM, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., during the graduation ceremony for the Graduate School’s Period III of the 2025/2026 Academic Year, held at the Fapet UGM Auditorium.
“As UGM alumni, these are the values you must uphold throughout your careers and in the years ahead,” Prof. Budi said on Thursday (23/4).
According to Prof. Budi, Indonesia’s livestock sector is facing increasingly complex challenges, including stunting, the implementation of Makanan Bergizi Gratis (Free Nutritious Meals, or MBG), and low domestic milk production. Addressing these issues, he noted, requires animal science professionals who are capable of driving innovation and contributing to the development of the national livestock sector.
During this graduation period, 37 students officially graduated, comprising 24 master’s graduates and 13 doctoral graduates from various fields of specialization.
Chair of the Doctoral Study Program, Prof. Ir. Diah Tri Widayati, M.P., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., highlighted the graduates’ outstanding academic achievements. Master’s graduates recorded an average GPA of 3.91, while doctoral graduates achieved an average GPA of 3.99. The average study duration was approximately two years for the master’s program and just over three years for the doctoral program.
“Several graduates achieved a perfect GPA of 4.00 in both the master’s and doctoral programs. This reflects their strong academic performance and commitment to completing their studies with excellence,” she said.
To date, Fapet UGM has produced a total of 1,110 master’s graduates and 188 doctoral graduates, many of whom have gone on to contribute to academia, industry, government, and other sectors at both the national and international levels.
The graduation ceremony marked an important milestone as the new graduates prepare to pursue professional and academic careers while contributing to the sustainable development of Indonesia’s livestock sector.
