The Faculty of Animal Science in UGM held a farewell ceremony for lecturers and educational staff entering retirement on Monday (12/15) at the drh. R. Soepardjo Auditorium.

The lecturers and staff who were sent off were Mukiyat, Wadikan, Bambang Wahyudi Pratomo, Ruswanto, Untung Sahpono, and Ir. Edi Suryanto, M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng.

The Faculty of Animal Science in UGM held a Waste Management Workshop: Community-Driven Waste Management and Circular Economy in Yogyakarta on Wednesday, December 10ᵗʰ, 2025. This activity is part of the CircuLife–SLI 2025 program, which focuses on community-based waste management and a circular economy.

The Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., in his remarks emphasized that this waste management program aligns with the goals of UGM’s Health Promoting University (HPU).  read more

The Community Service Team or Tim Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (Pengabmas) of the Faculty of Animal Science in UGM, led by Prof. Nurliyani, conducted a dissemination activity on dairy processing technology in Kemiri, Purwobinangun Village, Pakem District in 2025. This activity, funded by the 2025 Community Service Grant Competition of the Faculty of Animal Science in UGM, aims to strengthen the downstreaming of post-harvest technology in local dairy farming businesses and to create business opportunities based on local potential. read more

Rima Amalia Eka Widya, S.S., M.A., an educational staff member at the Faculty of Animal Science in UGM, received the Sylff Leadership Initiatives 2025 award from the Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research (TKFD). In this prestigious international program, Rima presented an initiative titled “CircuLife – Community-Driven Waste Management and Circular Economy in Yogyakarta”  which emphasizes strengthening the role of communities in waste management and the circular economy.

Rima chose the topic of community-based waste management and the circular economy because Yogyakarta faces increasingly pressing waste issues that require sustainable solutions. read more

The Faculty of Animal Science in UGM held a webinar titled “Balanced Nutrition to Support Personal Health and Productivity” on Wednesday (26/11). The webinar featured Rini Wuri Astuti, S.Si.T., M.Gizi, a dietitian and lecturer in the Nutrition Department at the Health Polytechnic of the Ministry of Health, Yogyakarta.

In her presentation, Rini highlighted the triple burden of malnutrition that Indonesia still faces: undernutrition, overnutrition, and micronutrient deficiencies. The 2023 Indonesian Child Health Survey data show that 1 in 5 toddlers suffers from stunting, while obesity cases in adults are increasing, especially among women. Rini explained that nutrition plays a crucial role in maintaining productivity, as the brain consumes approximately 20% of the body’s total energy. read more
