Establishing Dialogue, Building Resilience: The UGM Patriot Expedition’s Journey to Review Conflict Management and Prevention Design in the Tubbi Taramanu Transmigration Area, West Sulawesi

A research team from the Faculty of Animal Science in UGM participated in the Transmigration Patriot Expedition organized by the Ministry of Transmigration. The Patriot Expedition Team was tasked with exploring remote areas in West Sulawesi as part of a mission to build social harmony in transmigration areas, particularly in the Tubbi Taramanu Transmigration Area. This research combined field research, social experiments, and community service.

During the four-month expedition, The Faculty of Animal Science in UGM sent five personnel to West Sulawesi. The team was led by Dr. Moh. Sofi’ul Anam, S.Pt., M.Sc., with members Haidar Rais, Putri Safitri, Maria Hilary, and Naufal Dzaki. read more

The Faculty of Animal Science in UGM Student Team Won Third Place in the Terranova 2.0 Essay and Poster Competition at UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta 2025

A student team from the Faculty of Animal Science in UGM once again achieved impressive success through their participation in the Terranova 2.0: Essay and Poster Competition, organized by the Environmental Engineering Student Association of UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, on Sunday (16/11). This national-level competition, with the theme “Sparking Sustainable Change: Youth and the Future of Energy & Minerals”, attracted hundreds of students from various universities across Indonesia.

In this prestigious competition, the UGM team, consisting of Dini Aruni Karunia Romadhoni, Revalda Stefani Danela, and Batista Varani Bravinda Bintasani, successfully advanced their scientific paper, “EcoShell Edible Smart Film: Implementation of Natural Mineral CaCO₃ from Eggshell Waste as a Smart Material for Food Spoilage Markers Based on Renewable Energy”, to the full paper stage after passing a national abstract selection. This work is based on the issues of the energy crisis, high plastic consumption, exploitation of mining minerals, and the urgency of transitioning to sustainable materials. read more

The Faculty of Animal Science in UGM Successfully Hosts ISTAP 2025, Featuring Experts from Five Countries and Strengthening Global Collaboration

The Faculty of Animal Science in UGM has once again demonstrated its standing on the international stage by hosting and organizing the 11ᵗʰ International Seminar on Tropical Animal Production (ISTAP) 2025 at the Eastparc Hotel Yogyakarta. This prestigious biennial seminar featured 89 presenters from five countries, alongside keynote and plenary speakers from seven nations.

The event was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Puji Astuti, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., UGM’s Director of Partnerships and Global Relations, who delivered remarks on behalf of the UGM Rector. In her address, Prof. Puji emphasized that ISTAP is one of UGM’s flagship academic events, serving as a platform for global collaboration in research and scientific publication within the field of tropical animal production. read more

One Step Toward Change: An Active Lifestyle and Productivity

As part of the Fapet Bergerak! Sehat Bersama event series, the UGM Faculty of Animal Science , through its Health Promoting Unit (HPU), hosted a talk show titled “One Step Toward Change: An Active Lifestyle and Its Impact on the Productivity of the Academic Community and the Environment” on Friday (24/10) at the drh. R. Soepardjo Auditorium.

The event featured Prof. Dr. Ermawan Susanto, M.Pd., from the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences (FIKK) at Yogyakarta State University, as the keynote speaker. In his presentation, Prof. Ermawan emphasized that an active lifestyle does not need to begin with strenuous exercise; rather, it can start with small, consistent daily steps. read more

Faculty of Animal Science in UGM Hosts 2025 Virtual Run & Walk

As part of the Faculty of Animal Science in  UGM’s commitment to supporting a healthy, active, and sustainable lifestyle, the Health Promoting Unit (HPU) has once again organized an event titled Fapet Bergerak! Sehat Bersama, or Fapet in Motion! Healthy Together, featuring a 56-kilometer Virtual Run & Walk that began on Friday (24/10). The event kicked off at the drh. R. Soepardjo Auditorium courtyard and will continue until December 14, 2025.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU, ASEAN Eng., who also launched “The Faculty of Animal Science’s Healthy Lifestyle” initiative. Following the opening remarks and a group photo, faculty members and educational staff participated in a fun run and fun walk around UGM. read more
