The Faculty of Animal Science Introduced Innovation of Forage: High-Production and High-Nutrient with Affordable Price

Nowadays, one of the challenges in the farming industry is finding high-production, high nutrient forage at an affordable price. Fortunately, the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) has addressed this issue. Through the Laboratorium Hijauan Makanan Ternak dan Pastura (HMTP), the Faculty has successfully contributed by providing livestock feed that meets specific needs, such as tropical alfalfa iegume (Medicago sativa cv Kacang Ratu BW) with PVT number 929/PPVT/2021, napler grass (Pennisetum purpureum cv Gama Umami) with PVT number 889/PVHP/2020 and chicory (Cichorium intybus) which is still in the process of being submitted for PVT. read more

Badminton Team of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada Held a Friendly Match with the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Sebelas Maret

The Badminton team of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada held a friendly match with the badminton team of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Sebelas Maret on Saturday (10/1) at GOR Indoor of the Faculty of Sports Universitas Sebelas Maret. There are 12 teams or 24 players participating in this fun match.

The Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., stated that the match is one of the initiations to create Health Promoting University (HPU) of the Faculty. read more

The Faculty of Animal Science Promotes Food Self-Sufficiency through Research on Buffalo Based on Local Wisdom

The Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) with Prof. Dr. Ir. Tri Satya Mastuti Widi, S.Pt., M.P., M.Sc., IPM., ASEAN Eng., conducted a research entitled “Development of a Sustainable Buffalo Production System Based on Local Wisdom for National Food Self-Sufficiency )Kerbau untuk Indonesia/KuI)”.

The research was conducted from May to November 2024 in production system of Gayo Buffalo at Gayo Lues Regency, Province of Aceh; Tapanuli buffalo at Toba and Samosir Regency, Province of North Sumatra; and Kalang Buffalo at Hulu Sungai and Hulu Sungai Selatan, Province of South Kalimantan. The research is a collaboration under the katalis scheme (Strategic research Collaboration), which involved Universitas Malikussaleh, Aceh; Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan; and Universitas Lambung Mangkurat, Banjarbaru, Kalimantan Selatan.  read more

The Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) keeps nurturing their commitment in advancing research quality, scientific publication, and international networking. This commitment is implemented through participation in the Program for Improving the Quality of Scientific Publications or Peningkatan Kualitas Publikasi Ilmiah (PKPI) and the Program for Improving Promoter Cooperation or Program Peningkatan Kerja Sama Promoter (PKP) within the Master’s to Doctorate Program for Excellent Undergraduates or Program Magister Menuju Doktor untuk Sarjana Unggul (PMDSU) scholarship scheme from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.  read more

PT Lianhua Leather Industry Initiates Collaboration with the Faculty of Animal Science UGM

PT Lianhua Leather Industry initiates collaboration with the Faculty of Animal Science UGM. This was marked by a visit by Ahmad Firmansyah, from Human Resources Development (HRD) & General Affairs (GA) of PT Lianhua, to the Faculty on Wednesday (24/12).

In his presentation, Ahmad stated that his visit to the Faculty aims to initiate a collaboration between the two parties. 

“We need qualified human resources, both scientifically and technically,” he explained.

He stated that currently, approximately 90% of the workers in PT Lianhua Leather in Cianjur, Jawa Timur are high school graduates. As a leather tanning industry under Xingye Group, PT Lianhua Leather Indonesia owns approximately 7 to 10 hectares of factory area. read more
