The Faculty of Animal Science in UGM is once again participating internationally. One of its lecturers, Dr. Ir. Endy Triyannanto, S.Pt., M.Eng., IPM., ASEAN Eng., had the opportunity to serve as a reviewer and presenter at the 51ˢᵗ International Congress on Science, Technology, and Technology-based Innovation (STT51), held from November 11ᵗʰ – 13ᵗʰ, 2025, at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand.

Themed “Collaboration Across Frontiers: From Quantum and Cosmos to Global Biodiversity”, this event served as a platform for collaboration between global scientists in various fields, including Food Science and Technology. The government’s planned Rp20 trillion in credit from Danantara funds to strengthen the development of chicken farming is a strategic step towards national food self-sufficiency. This policy demonstrates the government’s commitment to ensuring the supply of animal protein for the public, particularly in supporting the free nutritious meal program for schoolchildren.

“This substantial financial support is deemed appropriate because it can increase the production capacity of livestock farmers, create jobs, stabilize chicken prices in the market, and assist small businesses that have previously faced capital constraints,” explained Professor of the Faculty of Animal Science UGM, Prof. Ir. The Integrated Health Post for Non-Communicable Disease or Pos Pembinaan Terpadu (Posbindu) of the Faculty of Animal Science UGM once again conducted health checks for approximately 94 lecturers and educational staff on Friday (22/11) at the Faculty of Animal Science’s ASLC Hall. The examinations included blood sugar, cholesterol, and uric acid levels.

Ikhwan Hadianto, S.Pt., Head of the Health Promoting University (HPU) at the Faculty, stated that this activity is both a promotional and preventative effort to prevent Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). read more

A research team from the Faculty of Animal Science in UGM participated in the Transmigration Patriot Expedition organized by the Ministry of Transmigration. The Patriot Expedition Team was tasked with exploring remote areas in West Sulawesi as part of a mission to build social harmony in transmigration areas, particularly in the Tubbi Taramanu Transmigration Area. This research combined field research, social experiments, and community service.

During the four-month expedition, The Faculty of Animal Science in UGM sent five personnel to West Sulawesi. The team was led by Dr. Moh. Sofi’ul Anam, S.Pt., M.Sc., with members Haidar Rais, Putri Safitri, Maria Hilary, and Naufal Dzaki. read more

A student team from the Faculty of Animal Science in UGM once again achieved impressive success through their participation in the Terranova 2.0: Essay and Poster Competition, organized by the Environmental Engineering Student Association of UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, on Sunday (16/11). This national-level competition, with the theme “Sparking Sustainable Change: Youth and the Future of Energy & Minerals”, attracted hundreds of students from various universities across Indonesia.

In this prestigious competition, the UGM team, consisting of Dini Aruni Karunia Romadhoni, Revalda Stefani Danela, and Batista Varani Bravinda Bintasani, successfully advanced their scientific paper, “EcoShell Edible Smart Film: Implementation of Natural Mineral CaCO₃ from Eggshell Waste as a Smart Material for Food Spoilage Markers Based on Renewable Energy”, to the full paper stage after passing a national abstract selection. This work is based on the issues of the energy crisis, high plastic consumption, exploitation of mining minerals, and the urgency of transitioning to sustainable materials. read more
