Faculty of Animal Science in UGM Staff Member Rima Amalia Receives Sylff Leadership Initiatives 2025 Award

Rima Amalia Eka Widya, S.S., M.A., an educational staff member at the Faculty of Animal Science in UGM, received the Sylff Leadership Initiatives 2025 award from the Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research (TKFD). In this prestigious international program, Rima presented an initiative titled “CircuLife – Community-Driven Waste Management and Circular Economy in Yogyakarta”  which emphasizes strengthening the role of communities in waste management and the circular economy.

Rima chose the topic of community-based waste management and the circular economy because Yogyakarta faces increasingly pressing waste issues that require sustainable solutions. read more

Journal Article Writing and Bibliometric Tools Training Improves the Academic Capacity of the Faculty of Animal Science in UGM Students

The Faculty of Animal Science in UGM held a training session on Journal Article Writing and Bibliometric Tools as part of its commitment to improving students’ academic capacity in scientific writing and bibliometric analysis on Tuesday (2/12). Eighty students from undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels participated in the training, with 49 attending in person and 31 online via Zoom.

In addition to students, the event was also attended by faculty leaders, such as the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Ir. R. Ahmad Romadhoni Surya Putra, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng.; the Head of the Doctoral Study Program in Animal Science, Prof. Ir. UGM’s PhylloZinc Team Wins Gold at the 38ᵗʰ PIMNAS for Developing Low-Toxic Ruminant Feed Additives

UGM students, members of the PhylloZinc Team, achieved awards at the 38ᵗʰ National Student Scientific Week or Pekan Ilmiah Mahasiswa Nasional (PIMNAS) at Hasanuddin University, Makassar, from November 23ʳᵈ-28ᵗʰ, 2025. They earned a silver medal for their presentation in the PKM RE (Exact Research) class and a gold medal for their poster in the PKM RE class.

The PhylloZinc Team, under the guidance of Dr. Moh. Sofi’ul Anam, S.Pt., M.Sc., a lecturer from the Faculty of Animal Science in UGM, comprised Catherine Noor (Animal Science 2023), Zahwa Tsuroyya Alisya Zahra (Biology 2023), Jesslyn Beatrice (Animal Science 2023), Rona Ayyu Happyna (Veterinary Medicine 2023), and Ahmad Rizal Riswanda (Animal Science 2022). read more

The Faculty of Animal Science in UGM Holds a Webinar on Balanced Nutrition to Support Academic Productivity

The Faculty of Animal Science in UGM held a webinar titled “Balanced Nutrition to Support Personal Health and Productivity” on Wednesday (26/11). The webinar featured Rini Wuri Astuti, S.Si.T., M.Gizi, a dietitian and lecturer in the Nutrition Department at the Health Polytechnic of the Ministry of Health, Yogyakarta.

In her presentation, Rini highlighted the triple burden of malnutrition that Indonesia still faces: undernutrition, overnutrition, and micronutrient deficiencies. The 2023 Indonesian Child Health Survey data show that 1 in 5 toddlers suffers from stunting, while obesity cases in adults are increasing, especially among women. Rini explained that nutrition plays a crucial role in maintaining productivity, as the brain consumes approximately 20% of the body’s total energy. read more

A Lecturer of the Faculty of Animal Science in UGM Becomes a Reviewer and Presenter at the 51ˢᵗ International Congress on Science, Technology, and Technology-based Innovation in Thailand

The Faculty of Animal Science in UGM is once again participating internationally. One of its lecturers, Dr. Ir. Endy Triyannanto, S.Pt., M.Eng., IPM., ASEAN Eng., had the opportunity to serve as a reviewer and presenter at the 51ˢᵗ International Congress on Science, Technology, and Technology-based Innovation (STT51), held from November 11ᵗʰ – 13ᵗʰ, 2025, at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand.

Themed “Collaboration Across Frontiers: From Quantum and Cosmos to Global Biodiversity”, this event served as a platform for collaboration between global scientists in various fields, including Food Science and Technology. STT51 featured keynote lectures, plenary sessions, and oral and poster presentations from international researchers. read more
