UGM Collaborates with International Experts to Promote Technology Transfer for Stronger Food Security and BUMDes  

The Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) has continued to strengthen the downstreaming of innovation through a research-based and community empowerment program conducted in collaboration with international partners in 2026. Held from April to June 2026, the program was funded by the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) under the EQUITY WCU Program.

Together with Dr. Joseph Dela Cruz from the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), the UGM team carried out technology transfer activities with BUMDes Putro Manggolo in Kadilanggon Village, Klaten. The program aims to enhance the capacity to produce high-quality food while strengthening village economic institutions. read more

The Story of Mila Arlinda, a Successful Young Livestock Farmer from Tuban Who Started with Five Sheep

In a corner of Kebonagung Village, Rengel District, Tuban Regency, the distinctive scent of livestock barns blends with the sounds of goats and sheep, becoming part of the daily life of a young woman named Mila Arlinda. The 2021 graduate of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) has successfully built a modern livestock business called Kerabat Ternak 1-3, which has now gained recognition across various parts of East Java.

Amid the perception that livestock farming is predominantly a man’s profession and offers limited prospects for prosperity, Mila has proven otherwise. Together with her husband, Sahroni, she has developed a goat and sheep business with various lines of operation, ranging from fattening and breeding to dairy farming and the sale of livestock production supplies (sapronak). read more

Faculty of Animal Science UGM Graduate Futsal Team Competes in Pascagama Futsal Competition 2026  

The Graduate Futsal Team of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) participated in the Pascagama Futsal Competition 2026, a tournament that provided graduate students with an opportunity to develop their athletic potential while fostering teamwork, camaraderie, and sportsmanship among the UGM community.

The competition began with team registration on Monday, June 16, 2026, followed by a technical meeting held on Thursday, June 18, at Room C1-007, GIK Building. During the session, the organizing committee outlined the tournament regulations, match procedures, and competition guidelines before conducting the group draw. Fapet UGM was placed in Group B alongside the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), and the Faculty of Agriculture. The group-stage matches were held at GOR Nusantara, with two matches scheduled on Friday and one on Saturday. read more

Faculty of Animal Science UGM Organizes IoT-Based Waste Management  Workshop to Advance a Sustainable Campus

Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) holds a waste management workshop based on Internet of Things (IoT) together with Dr. Ir. Thomas Oka Pratama, M.Eng. from the Faculty of Engineering on Thursday (25/6). The program was joined by members of the Fapet UGM academic community, particularly cleaning service personnel and the Faculty’s HPU (Health Promoting University) team, as an effort to advance their understanding of modern, data-driven, and measurable waste management practices. read more

Fapet UGM Slaughters Four Cattle and Five Sheep for Eid al-Adha, Upholding Halal, Ihsan, and Safe Practices   

The Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) held its annual Eid al-Adha sacrificial slaughter by processing four cattle and five sheep on campus on Friday (29/5). The event involved faculty members, students, administrative staff, and the Eid al-Adha organizing committee, who worked together throughout the slaughtering process and the distribution of the meat to the Fapet UGM community.

Chair of the Fapet UGM Eid al-Adha Committee, Dr. Ir. Agussalim, S.Pt., M.Sc., IPM., ASEAN Eng., explained that this year’s event served not only as an act of worship but also as an educational opportunity to demonstrate proper halal slaughter practices and humane animal handling. read more
