Antelope Reborn Team of Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM, won second place in the national debate competition in the Faterna Scientific Week (Fastweek) event on October 17-21, 2018 at the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Andalas. The Antelope Reborn Team consists of Indra Wahyu Pratama (class of 2015), Laksmitha Aurelia Dewi (class of 2016), and Dandi Riswanto (class of 2015).
“Before leaving for Universitas Andalas, we passed the selection stage after sending an essay entitled Fact Behind the Cattle Import Ratio,” Indra said in a release he sent on Tuesday (10/23).
In the debate using the Asian Parliamentary system, Antelope Reborn Team received three motions, namely developing an island-based nursery area, the government made NTT a barn-cattle province, and the government policy of the UPSUS SIWAB to increase the cattle population.
“The preparations for the competition included reading the problems of many farmers at this time, learning the motion given by the committee, and having a lot of discussion and simulation,” Indra said.
According to Indra, FAS UGM students must be able to convey smart and critical ideas in public. “This activity is expected to hone the critical mindset of students, and together seek new ideas that can become domestic solutions, especially in the field of livestock,” he explained. (Nadia)
