The Faculty of Animal Science in UGM celebrated the main event of its 56ᵗʰ Anniversary, themed “Enhancing Excellent Human Resources through Livestock-Derived Functional Foods towards Indonesia Emas 2045 (Golden Indonesia 2045)”, at the drh. R. Soepardjo Auditorium on Monday (10/11). The event was attended by UGM Rector Prof. Dr. Ova Emilia, M.Med.Ed., Sp.OG(K)., Ph.D., along with university leadership, faculty members, educational staff, students, and partners. The Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture was represented by the Director of Animal Feed, Dr. Ir. Tri Melasari, SPt., M.Si., IPM, attending on behalf of the Director General of Livestock and Animal Health Services, Dr. drh. Agung Suganda, M.Si.

The Faculty of Animal Science in UGM has once again demonstrated its standing on the international stage by hosting and organizing the 11ᵗʰ International Seminar on Tropical Animal Production (ISTAP) 2025 at the Eastparc Hotel Yogyakarta. This prestigious biennial seminar featured 89 presenters from five countries, alongside keynote and plenary speakers from seven nations.
The event was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Puji Astuti, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., UGM’s Director of Partnerships and Global Relations, who delivered remarks on behalf of the UGM Rector. In her address, Prof. Puji emphasized that ISTAP is one of UGM’s flagship academic events, serving as a platform for global collaboration in research and scientific publication within the field of tropical animal production.
As part of the Fapet Bergerak! Sehat Bersama event series, the UGM Faculty of Animal Science , through its Health Promoting Unit (HPU), hosted a talk show titled “One Step Toward Change: An Active Lifestyle and Its Impact on the Productivity of the Academic Community and the Environment” on Friday (24/10) at the drh. R. Soepardjo Auditorium.
The event featured Prof. Dr. Ermawan Susanto, M.Pd., from the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences (FIKK) at Yogyakarta State University, as the keynote speaker. In his presentation, Prof. Ermawan emphasized that an active lifestyle does not need to begin with strenuous exercise; rather, it can start with small, consistent daily steps.
As part of the Faculty of Animal Science in UGM’s commitment to supporting a healthy, active, and sustainable lifestyle, the Health Promoting Unit (HPU) has once again organized an event titled Fapet Bergerak! Sehat Bersama, or Fapet in Motion! Healthy Together, featuring a 56-kilometer Virtual Run & Walk that began on Friday (24/10). The event kicked off at the drh. R. Soepardjo Auditorium courtyard and will continue until December 14, 2025.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU, ASEAN Eng., who also launched “The Faculty of Animal Science’s Healthy Lifestyle” initiative. Following the opening remarks and a group photo, faculty members and educational staff participated in a fun run and fun walk around UGM.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Bambang Suwignyo, S.Pt., M.P., IPM., ASEAN Eng., a lecturer from the Faculty of Animal Science in UGM, attended the 62nd Philippine Society of Animal Science (PSAS) Scientific Meeting and Annual Convention. Held from October 21-24, 2025, at the Subic Bay Travelers Hotel and Events in the Subic Freeport Zone, Zambales, Philippines, the event was supported by a SEARCA Travel Grant.
The overarching theme of this annual seminar was “Transforming Animal Industry: The Impact of Science and Technology on Business and Sustainable Development”.
