The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Brawijaya University visited the Faculty of Animal Science at UGM on Monday (1/9) to study its entrepreneurship program. The delegation was led by Chomsin Sulistya Widodo, Ph.D., the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Student Entrepreneurship at FMIPA UB.

Chomsin noted that FMIPA UB graduates have career opportunities across various sectors, extending beyond the realm of pure science.

The Faculty of Animal Science at UGM graduates 121 students, 45 men and 76 women, on Thursday (28/9). Four of these graduates came from the International Undergraduate Program (IUP).

The Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU, ASEAN Eng., stated that graduation marks the beginning of a journey. He expressed his hope that the Faculty of Animal Science graduates would continue to produce meaningful work and innovate after completing their studies.

“Graduation is not the end of the journey. Congratulations, and I am proud of the achievements you have attained,” Budi said in his remarks during the send-off ceremony at the Fapet ASLC Hall. read more

The Faculty of Animal Science at UGM hosted a delegation from the Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. The visit catalyzed collaboration, featuring discussions on the key points to be included in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), and was marked by the exchange of tokens of appreciation symbolizing the strengthening of academic ties between the two institutions.

The Chulalongkorn University delegation was led by Professor Dr. Pranut Potiyaraj, Dean of the Faculty of Science. Also present in the delegation were Associate Professor Dr. Prasert Reubroycharoen (Deputy Dean), Associate Professor Dr. Inthawoot Suppavorasatit (Deputy Dean), Associate Professor Dr. Sehanat Prasongsuk (Deputy Dean), Assistant Professor Dr. Chompoonik Kanchanabanca (Assistant Dean), and Dr. Wuttichai Reainthippayasakul (Assistant Dean). read more

The Awassi is the most common sheep breed in the Middle East and the only indigenous breed in Jordan. Raised for meat, milk, and wool production, the Awassi has spread to over 30 countries worldwide. Burja Goat, an industry partner of Polbangtan Malang, imports Awassi sheep and is developing the breed following its introduction to Indonesia.

This development initiative is led by Dr. Dewi Ratih Ayu Daning, S.Pt., M.S., a researcher and the Head of the Livestock Agribusiness Study Program at Polbangtan Malang, under the research project titled “Development of Indigofera Feed for Awassi Sheep”. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Animal Science at UGM, led by Prof. Ir. Yustina Yuni Suryanindiyah, M.S., Ph.D., IPM, is conducting research focused on identifying the livestock characteristics, milk production and composition, and reproductive performance of Awassi sheep and their crosses. read more

Issues regarding mortality and abortion among dairy livestock have become a serious concern for farmers in RW 4 and RW 16, Sukaluyu Village, Pangalengan District. Many farmers have reported that their livestock become weak after giving birth, with some animals even dying. In response to this, Salma Nur Azizah, a student from the Faculty of Animal Science at UGM, introduced a solution, which is the production and use of mineral blocks for livestock, during her Community Service Program (KKN) from June to August 2025. read more
