The Faculty of Animal Science at UGM served as one of the Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) sites for PIONIR Gadjah Mada 2025 (new student orientation program). Conducting the evaluation were the Vice-Rector for Education and Teaching, Prof. Dr. Wening Udasmoro, S.S., M.Hum., DEA., and the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni, Dr. Arie Sujito, S.Sos., M.Si., accompanied by several faculty leaders.

During the visit, university leaders inspected various locations within the Faculty, including a lecture hall in the ASLC building. They were also shown unpackaged snacks, highlighting the eco-friendly approach adopted for the PIONIR event. read more

A total of 323 new students from the UGM Faculty of Animal Science participated in a Barn Tour (Jelajah Kandang) on Thursday (7/7). One of the objectives of this activity was to allow them to further explore the campus environment. The tour involved visiting several locations, including the cattle, dairy, goat, and poultry barns, as well as the forage fields.

The Regent of Magelang, Grengseng Pamuji, delivered an important message to new students of the UGM Faculty of Animal Science during the PIONIR Rancher 2025 event. On this occasion, Grengseng highlighted three key factors for career success: setting priorities, maintaining discipline, and networking.

“If I were asked to offer words of motivation, I would point to those three main things. Whether during our studies or after graduation, we must establish a clear set of priorities. Plastic waste is known to be hazardous due to its detrimental effects on the environment and human health. Plastic pollutes soil, water, and air, and can break down into microplastics that pose risks if they enter the body. Furthermore, burning plastic waste releases toxic substances that can trigger various health issues.

Demonstrating its concern regarding this issue, the Faculty of Animal Science at UGM has taken concrete action by eliminating the use of plastic during the 2025 New Student Campus Life Introduction (PIONIR) program, held from August 4 to 9, 2025. All meals provided during the event are prepared without single-use plastic packaging. read more
