The Faculty of Animal Science in UGM held a webinar titled “Balanced Nutrition to Support Personal Health and Productivity” on Wednesday (26/11). The webinar featured Rini Wuri Astuti, S.Si.T., M.Gizi, a dietitian and lecturer in the Nutrition Department at the Health Polytechnic of the Ministry of Health, Yogyakarta.
In her presentation, Rini highlighted the triple burden of malnutrition that Indonesia still faces: undernutrition, overnutrition, and micronutrient deficiencies. The 2023 Indonesian Child Health Survey data show that 1 in 5 toddlers suffers from stunting, while obesity cases in adults are increasing, especially among women. Rini explained that nutrition plays a crucial role in maintaining productivity, as the brain consumes approximately 20% of the body’s total energy.
