Laksa struggled with two students from Vocational School UGM by presenting a theme “Sustainable Tourism Development on the Grand Design of Coastal Tourism Sector Establishment Based on Community Based Tourism As a Means to Create Maritime Axis and Sustainable Development in Indonesia”.

“Indonesia has a prospective coastal area as a tourism object. Yogyakarta is the driving force of the national tourism, exactly in Gunung Kidul regency. One of the best practices of coastal area management is the Indrayanti Beach,” said Laksa in his release sent on Wednesday (18/7).

Based on the research conducted by Laksa and his team, the management of Indrayanti Beach based on tourism awareness community, consensus on nature conservation, and populist economy will be able to realize sustainable tourism development and the prosperity of the local people. “People empowerment through the establishment of Pokdarwis as tourism destination management has succedded to give multiple effect to the economy of the local people,” Laksa said. This success can be a contribution at regional level and motivate other regions to support  the improvement of Indonesia maritime that is beneficial for the people and environment.

In the competition, Laksa and his team had to compete with 24 teams from various universities in Indonesia. “This competition takes on a very complex and diverse issue regarding Indonesia’s challenges and opportunities in the digital economy era. The competition is quite tight since impromptu case studies are carried out when we have passed the final round. Thankfully we were able to convince the jury with good arguments and supported real data, “said Laksa. (Nadia)
