Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM student, Ummi Sabrina Sholekhah, was selected as Miss Friendship Jogja in the Dimas Diajeng Jogja 2018 event. The coronation event was held on October 12, 2018 in Yogyakarta.
“This experience is very extraordinary. Through this activity, I got a lot of knowledge, insight, and experience. I was trained to be a smart, interesting, cultured, and well-mannered person in the midst of today’s development,” said the student who was born in Kulon Progo, April 12, 2000 when being interviewed at the FAS UGM campus.
In addition to winning the title as Miss Friendship Jogja, in 2017 Ummi also selected as as Miss Kulon Progo. “I like to participate in this activity because of my love for the city of Yogyakarta which is full of tourism culture and paradise. As a young generation, I feel that I must be able to contribute to the region especially in the tourism sector,” said Ummi who is also adept at dancing and singing Javanese songs.
Ummi added, during her role as Miss Friendship Jogja, she will be the role model for the young generation of Jogja who are active in promoting tourism and culture to the wider community. However, she will still manage her time well so that her activities as Miss Friendship and student can be balanced.
“With this activity, I hope that more and more young people who love Jogja’s local wisdom are passionate about promoting tourism and culture in Jogja, especially since the current era has been supported by information media that are very helpful,” said Ummi who is also active in becoming master of ceremony and speaker in cultural themed events.
