UGM Faculty of Animal Science 56ᵗʰ Anniversary: ​​Promoting Functional Animal-Based Foods Towards Golden Indonesia 2045

The Faculty of Animal Science at UGM officially launched its 56ᵗʰ  anniversary celebrations on Friday (3/10). The opening event began with a fun walk and run, starting from the Faculty of Animal Science complex and following a route through the UGM campus.

To mark the start of the anniversary commemorations, the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., accompanied by the faculty leadership team and the organizing committee, symbolically struck a gong and released 56 birds. read more

The laying hen farming industry in Indonesia continues to experience rapid growth; by mid-2025, national production had reached 6,52 million tons. High demand for animal protein has made this sector increasingly attractive to everyone from young farmers to agribusiness investors. However, alongside these significant opportunities, serious challenges have emerged, specifically, chicken manure waste causing air and water pollution, as well as public health risks stemming from ammonia and hydrogen sulfide gases released during decomposition. read more

UGM Faculty of Animal Science PhD Student Serves as MC for PMDSU Cohort IX Scholarship Recipients’ Orientation

Yesita Vera Saraswati and Dio Fico Felsidan Diatmono, doctoral students from the UGM Faculty of Animal Science, had the opportunity to serve as masters of ceremony (MCs) for the orientation event for the 9th cohort of the PMDSU (Master’s to Doctoral Education for Superior Bachelors) scholarship program. Both are PMDSU scholarship recipients from earlier cohorts; Yesita belongs to Cohort VI, while Dio is from Cohort VII. They were invited by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek), specifically the Director of Resources, to host the orientation program, which took place from September 15 to 17, 2025, at the Kemdiktisaintek Ballroom and the Mangkuluhur Artotel Suites in Jakarta. read more

UGM Faculty of Animal Science Utilizes Drainage and Rainwater for Water Conservation

The Faculty of Animal Science at UGM remains committed to supporting water conservation and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), Goal 14 (Life Below Water), and Goal 15 (Life on Land). One tangible measure being implemented is the utilization of canal water and rainwater, alongside the application of “Reduce-Reuse-Recycle” principles in campus water management.

Nurma Diani Sekarsih, S.Pd., MBA., Head of the Administrative Office (KKA) at the Faculty, explained that this initiative is part of a strategy for sustainable natural resource management. read more

Conclusion of the Integrated Farm Training Program (Fapet UGM – PT GDA)

The Integrated Farm Training program, a collaboration between the Faculty of Animal Science at UGM and PT Global Dairi Alami (GDA) in Subang, officially concluded on Tuesday (23/9). This program provided foundational training in the dairy cattle industry for PT GDA employees and has been underway since April 2025.

Attendees at the closing ceremony included the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng.; the Senate Secretary, Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Prasetyo Widyobroto, DESS., DEA., IPU., ASEAN Eng.; and the Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources, Ir. Andriyani Astuti, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN Eng. Representatives from PT GDA included Paulus I. Edy (Human Capital Director of Savoria), Lieke Sukri (Head of Savoria Learning Institute), Candra Ardiyanto (HRGA Manager of PT GDA), and Syed Kumail Haider Naqvi (Farm Manager of PT GDA). read more
